Career Development Program
Join us before the Opulence Awards for a powerfully entertaining and insightful Career Development Program titled: "How Do You Ruin Everything by Being You? Understanding Style Differences and Making Connections"
Facilitated by Author & Acclaimed Keynote
Mr. John Stoker of DialogueWorksWhen: March 23, 2012 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Houstonian Hotel, Houston, Texas
Cost: $35.00 member / $45 non-memberProgram Highlights:
We don’t intentionally set out to offend others. Unfortunately, sometimes the way we choose to communicate just doesn’t work, and we end up creating defensiveness and turning everyone off. That’s because everyone has a different style for communicating. When we communicate with a style that is different from that of others, we really have a difficult time being understood and connecting with others. Consequently, it is important to recognize the communication style of others and to be able to adapt or “match” their style to communicate more effectively.
During this seminar, John will teach you how to:
- Recognize the communication styles of others and how those styles become a barrier to really being heard
- Identify the verbal cues that signal what’s really important to an individual
- Adapt to a variety of styles in order to create understanding and connections with others
- Recognize the non verbal cues that put people at ease in any situation
- Increase clarity of expectations and improve accountability
- Improve respect between individuals of differing styles
