HBO Tops Cable Networks with Ten Nominations

More than two hundred entries were submitted by twenty-nine networks competing for top honors in fifteen award categories, which include: Animation; Children’s; Comedy; Documentary; Drama; Foreign Language; Lifestyle; News/Informational; Original Movie or Special; Reality; Sports; Variety/Talk Show; Best Performance Comedy and Best Performance Drama. HBO dominated the voting by garnering ten nominations in five categories.

Presented by NAMIC in partnership with NAMIC-Southern California, the NAMIC Vision Awards is the only entertainment industry event celebrating diversity in original cable programming. This year’s NAMIC Vision Awards will be presented at a special luncheon held in conjunction with the NAMIC West Coast Creative Summit, which is part of the trade organization’s signature conference series focused on the content development aspects of the television industry. 2008 West Coast Creative Summit

The Creative Summit is NAMIC’s signature daylong forum focused on diversity in content development for current— and aspiring— artisans and executives of the cable, broadcast, film and entertainment industries.

The rich agenda features general sessions, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities for attendees to hone their craft, learn insider tips about the business, and meet industry colleagues and peers. Discussion topics examine the future of creative development, the influence of digital media, mobile content, multicultural marketing, the synergy of music and other “hot topics”.

The Creative Summit also includes a Career Expo to enable programming networks, broadcasters and other entertainment companies to conduct outreach to a diverse candidate pool. The Career Expo is presented in partnership with VarietyCareers.com.

The Creative Summit provides professionals of all levels, as well as those aspiring to enter the business, direct access to top executives within the entertainment arena. Since its inception in 2005, the Creative Summit has featured a stellar line-up of distinguished speakers. 2008 Creative Summit speakers included:
