The NAMIC Leadership Seminar is a two-day professional development program designed to transform high-potential middle managers of color into effective leaders. The program integrates theoretical knowledge with participants' own experiences to generate powerful insights about leadership. Participants create a personalized blueprint for becoming successful, high-impact leaders, with enhanced value to their organizations and confidence in their own potential.

NAMIC congratulates the 42 managers and directors who graduated from the NAMIC Leadership Seminar on March 2. Session VI was held in Washington, D.C., at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association's (NCTA) new Capitol Hill headquarters.

Session VI received an unprecedented 110 applications for the coveted 40 seats. The demand is a testament to the industry support, the quality and experience of the program's alumni and the void that NAMIC is filling within the industry. Member of the Month: Bryce Adams

Bryce
Bryce Adams
NAMIC-Mid Atlantic
Sales Coordinator
TV One
Silver Spring, MD

How long have you been a NAMIC member?

I joined NAMIC-Atlanta in September of 2005 and became a member of the Mid-Atlantic chapter in October of last year.

Why did you join NAMIC?

Many of my colleagues at Turner were active NAMIC members and I admired how the organization developed their leadership skills, allowed them to enhance their network inside the industry, and gave them opportunities to excel. I realized that being a NAMIC member would be crucial to my professional development and would help cultivate and enhance the skills necessary to succeed.

How are you involved with NAMIC?

I am currently the Fundraising Chair for NAMIC Mid-Atlantic. Prior to that, I was on two committees for NAMIC-Atlanta. I also helped plan and coordinate the NAMIC Welcome reception for NCTA (Cable Show) in 2006.

Tell us a little about your position at TV One?

I support TV One’s sales team with gaining distribution nationwide. I do a lot of market research, help put together proposals and sales presentations, attend state and regional cable shows, and maintain a lot of our internal record keeping and subscriber tracking.

What's the one thing about you that's not on your resume that you are willing to share with other members of NAMIC?

Don’t underestimate the value of being a mentor, and if you're not comfortable with the "title" just take the time to offer advice and counsel to those who may not have the same experience or the same perspective as you. I have been blessed to have several mentors along the way who led by example, verbally, or with tough love.
